Processing and Reacting to Traumatic Events

The past week has been particularly traumatic for many in Sydney who may have witnessed the tragic stabbings at the Bondi Westfield and the Church in Wakeley. But how can we process and recover from these traumatic events?

Kim Flemingham, an academic in the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences at the Chair of Clinical Psychology at the University of Melbourne, joined us this week on the show. Having also been a clinical psychologist who has specialised in research in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder over the past 15 years, she used her knowledge to explore how people may be feeling after witnessing violent traumatic incidents and how they can begin to recover.
