Pap Smears: The Effects of a System Change
By May 2017, Pap Smears will be completely phased out throughout Australia and replaced with a Cervical Screening Test. While the test aims at detecting the signs of cervical cancer at an early stage, the requirements of the improved testing is to be conducted every five years and is available for women 25 years and over. Why is there a system change? Will this affect women who don’t meet the requirement? Joining Sean to discuss how these changes will impact women’s health is Dr Deborah Bateson the Medical Director of Family Planning NSW.
