As a young arts First Nations entrepreneur Shelby owns and runs Marara Designs.  She is from Wiradjuri country at the Riverina in NSW. The modern device of laser is part of her artwork on wood, saying she wants to keep her art practice contemporary. She’s been at it for 5 years while bringing up a young family. Her work was part of NAIDOC 2024 Gadigal markets at Sydney Lower Town Hall. A celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and enterprises, with music, dance, craft and arts and services from First Nations people.

“No matter what happens we’ve kept our culture continuously going..we never let that fire burn down and we’re still here. It always  was and always will be Aboriginal land.”

Naidoc’s 2024 theme is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.
