Calls for action amid Australia’s rising homelessness
Over half a million low-income households in Australia are either experiencing homelessness, live in overcrowded homes or are spending over 30 percent of their income on rent – that’s according to a recent report, Quantifying Australia’s Unmet Housing Need: A national Snapshot.
Here in South Australia over 7000 are without secure housing, and one local expert with lived experience of poverty says it’s becoming increasingly difficult to break poverty cycles.
So why is the problem rapidly intensifying and what action is needed from state leaders?
