How Tainted Love Transformed Soul into Synth Pop – Under the Covers

Despite flopping in the US, 1965’s Tainted Love somehow made its way across seas, gaining a cult following in the UK, leading to the synth-pop duo Soft Cell transforming it into a worldwide hit in 1981.

This week on Under the Covers, Max and Thomas rediscovered the early career of soul and R&B singer Gloria Jones, and the circumstances that led to the release of the original rendition of the now famous song.

You can catch Under the Covers on Friday Drive at 4:30pm.
