There have been at least two large lithium-ion battery fires in Australia since september, but a May 2023 report by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency found regular petrol and diesel engines were 20 times more likely to catch fire than electric vehicles in Sweden. A major issue facing the EV industry is how long and dangerously this few fires are burning due to chemical reactions.
