2SER presenter Barbara Morison recognised at CMAA Awards

Barbara Morison, host of All Kinds Of Country on 2SER, is the winner of the 2024 Country Music Association of Australia award for Legacy Industry in 2024 – a huge and very well deserved honour!

With 43 years behind the microphone, Barbara Morison is one of 2SER’s longest serving volunteers and along the way has become a renowned figure in Australian Country music.

Still going strong with her current radio program All Kinds of Country heard on Saturday mornings on 2SER on 107.3FM or www.2ser.com. All Kinds of Country presents a smorgasbord of country music ranging from traditional, bluegrass and contemporary country to bush ballads. Barbara covers independent and commercial country releases from both local and overseas artists that ensures everyone’s tastes are well and truly covered.

This unique music show that charms all the stars of country music up for a early morning chat is broadcast LIVE each week and will give you an entertaining perspective look at the broad range of country music from our unique Australian Bush Ballads, Americana, Bluegrass, Yodeling, Folk and history to the latest sounds that are being released.

Barbara started broadcasting on 2SER as a school kid, going to air for the first time on April 26, 1981. Barbara’s mentors in those early days included Garry Coxhead (2TM), and the late Maurie Taylor who were responsible for 2SER’s country music shows. Along with late mother, Irene Morison (responsible for the first monument in Tamworth honouring CM pioneer; Buddy Williams ) went on to ensure the local variety of the genre was well represented at the station. She’s been on air at the station ever since doing a wide variety of shifts. Her current show “All Kinds of Country” goes to air every Saturday morning from 5-7am.

Barbara’s interviewed some of the biggest names in country music as well as our pioneers, stalwarts and rising stars. She is widely respected in the industry for knowledge and enthusiasm for ensuring of music is recognition and continuances. She was one of the inaugural inductees into the Country Music Foundation’s Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame in 1997, acknowledged at Radio 2SER-FM’s Hall of Fame in 2010 and by the Australian Bush Balladeer Association’s Achievement Award for Services to Country Music in 2013.

After 43yrs on air, (Barbara has created) it’s a great way to start your weekend each Saturday morning from 5am till 7am with country music stars, news, music, event updates with lots of fun and possibly the odd technical glitch you catch this unique radio show that’ll reimagine and educate you on all that is country music in song, stories and tales and stars.

Barbara has been recognised before for her enormous contribution to Australian country music, and to broadcasting.

1997 – Longstanding 2SER country music broadcaster Barbara Morison was one of the inaugural broadcasters inducted into the Country Music Broadcasters Hall Of Fame.

2010 – 2ser’s Hall Of Fame – Annual 2SER Volunteer Awards

2013 – Australian Bush Balladeer Association Achievement Award for services to Australian Country Music
