Half a billion pledged to strengthen women’s healthcare, what does it mean?

Labor has pledged $573.3 million, aimed at boosting healthcare options and affordability for women.

The plan was matched by the Coalition, securing role out ahead of the Federal election.

It includes funding for menopause health assessments, the development of national guidelines for menopause and perimenopause, and new generation contraceptive pills on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

The move comes after two parliamentary inquiries into reproductive health and menopause.

While a number of organisations welcome the announcement, others say more is still needed.
