Coalition to match Labor’s $8.5bn Medicare pledge

This weekend, Labor announced $8.5bn for investment into Medicare, promising an extra 18 million bulk billed GP visits annually. The announcement has quickly formed what seems to be the centrepiece for Albanese’s re-election campaign.
Historically, opposition leader Peter Dutton has been vocal in criticising Labor’s spending. However, yesterday, the coalition announced it would match the government’s pledge dollar for dollar.
