The Making of Mardi Gras
A celebration of love, sexuality, and identity, Mardi Gras has captured Sydney for almost 50 years. However, there was no lack of obstacles that had to be overcome to get to the massive celebration we have today. To understand the history more, we spoke with a member of the first 1978 Mardi Gras and queer women’s advocate, Sallie Colechin.
