How harmful is reality tv?

A panel consisting of five experts on the conversation have shared their perspectives on the potential harmful impacts of reality tv.

One expert has argued that reality tv isn’t harmful claiming that it’s a form of “valuable entertainment”. While the other four experts have shared their concerns about reality tv bringing on content that brings on unhealthy habits and behaviors. As well as emotionally scarring it’s contestants by putting them in unusual situations looking for some controversy out of it.

Thomas Koutis spoke to one of the experts who is against reality tv Jane Herbet an Associate Professor in Psychology at the University of Wollongong.
