Concerns Around Apps in Classrooms
Over recent years we’ve seen a lot of new technology work its way into schools with smart boards and a much greater access to computers and the internet, but did you know that teachers are now also using apps in the classroom? You might remember getting stickers or gold stars when you were good back in the day, but word is that there’s a rising trend in Australian schools for teachers to integrate apps into their classrooms as a means of managing student behaviour. Apps such as ClassDojo and Kahoot! are becoming increasingly popular amongst teachers, students and parents alike, but concerns are arising over the privacy of these apps and whether or not they may be hindering student learning.
The Daily was joined by Neil Selwyn, Professor of Education at Monash University to discuss these concerns.
