Kenya Vote?
This week saw the important results of Kenya’s Democratic elections, Kenyatta won his second term and Odinga lost for fourth time in a row. This year sought to see a more peaceful election as in the past there had been mass violence. To avoid the fear brought by Christopher Msando’s death and past years violence, a new electronic system of ballot counting was introduced, security was heightened around the 41,000 polling stations and the U.S had observation teams in Kenya to monitor the election. A peaceful aftermath is needed for Kenya to set an example for the surrounding African countries to strengthen seeking a peaceful election. We were joined by Mr Ring Mayar from the Australian National University to discuss the importance of Kenya’s election results.
