Parkinson’s disease: early detection of a life sentence

A team of Australian researchers has made an unprecedented breakthrough in the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease: a simple blood test, which can detect abnormalities in blood cells. These abnormalities are one of the first signs that the person will develop the disease.

This could allow sufferers earlier access to medication, which allows a better quality of life.

La Trobe University’s Professor Paul Fisher lead the research. He spoke to presenter Kim Williams about the disease and the implications of the findings.
