Education in the 2016-17 budget
Funding for public and private education has been the focus of significant negotiations between the federal and state governments in this election year. The federal budget announced yesterday that an additional $1.2 billion has been earmarked for the 2018 to 2020 budget of both government and non-government schools, but the role of government in supporting private education remains under question.
Chris Bonnor is an education researcher and former president of the New South Wales Secondary Principals’ Council who co-authored a report into the private-public division in educational funding last year, and he joined us on the line.
