Russia isssues yet another veto protecting Syria

Back in March an air strike was issued on a northern Syrian town. 70 people died due to these air strikes however, these air strikes contained a chemical substance called Sarin. This is not the first time the Syrian government has used chemical warfare on their own people, in fact Syrian forces have used chemical weapons over two dozen times. Due to this the UN has been investigating the attacks with a team who call themselves the Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM). Recently this week Russia has issued a veto which will halt the investigation until a report is released by a joint UN organisation for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) panel. This is Russia’s 9th time they have implemented a Veto for Syria. 2ser was joined by Dr Alison Pert from the University of Sydney to talk more about this issue.
