Unions call for boycott of Streets ice cream over pay dispute
Australians are being urged to boycott some of their favourite ice creams after a breakdown in negotiations between Streets workers and the company’s owner Unilever, who has applied to Fair Work Australia to terminate their current enterprise agreement. Many unions, such as the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, say this could leave 140 workers at the Streets factory in Minto, NSW, with a pay cut of up to 46 per cent.
Georgia Kriz, the National Communications Officer for the Australian Manufacturing Union, joined Myles Haulbrook-Walk on The Daily to discuss the plan to boycott the loved Australian ice creams.
