Eamon Evans new book, Tanked: How Getting Wasted Shaped Human History is raising some very odd, yet very interesting questions.

He looked back through history and found links between civilisation and alcohol from Ancient Egypt through to World War 2 and beyond. He even floats the idea that alcohol actually  influenced the Aussie accent in the early days of the colony, thanks to people consuming large amounts of alcohol. Eamon suggested that the extent to how we slur out our vowels may be due to this, proving that alcohol has shaped part of our history.
