Gig Economies

Gig economies are on the rise and do not seem to be slowly down. According to an article written by the Guardian, there are about five million people who are self-employed, and about 1.6 million working in gig economy companies like Uber and Deliveroo.

Despite their success and the freedom to work on your own time with resources you can provide, many are calling to make changes for workers’ rights and to be treated more like an employee. Monica Samayoa spoke with the President of the Law Society of NSW Pauline Wright and Legal Aid NSW Lawyer Bridget Akers to help us better understand gig economies, the risks that are taken and if laws will change in the future.
