How to become “Big in Japan”

Fame is an elusive beast. At some point in our lives, we all dream of being a famous celebrity; getting stopped to autograph something, getting invited to the hottest Hollywood parties. But just how do you become famous? And what does it mean to be a celebrity?

After hearing about the demand for foreign talent in Japan, three Aussie filmmakers packed up and shipped off to Tokyo on a DIY mission to make “ordinary” Dave famous. During this expedition, they meet an eclectic ensemble of foreign talent, all at various stages of the celebrity journey, including cross-dressing heavy metal performer, Ladybeard, starry-eyed Canadian JPop wannabe, Kelsey Parnigoni, and veteran TV sweetheart, Bob “The Beast” Sapp.

Bryce chatted with Dave, the DIY fame guinea pig and writer of Big in Japanabout the eccentric lengths he went to in order to achieve fame and why. Big in Japan will have a special Q&A screening at Event Cinemas George Street on the 6th of January.
