Counting the cost of cancer in young Australians
What do you think the economic cost of cancer is for young Australians? A new report by CanTeen and Deloitte Access Economics shows it to be $1.3 million per adolescent cancer patient. The total price tag includes the cost of cancer treatments, treatments for other conditions developed, and an accumulated productivity loss because of disrupted education. And because cancer death rates have been falling, this means people are living longer with cancer and paying the price.
