Raising The Legal Age Of Smoking

Australia has typically always held a hard-line stance on smoking, notably introducing plain packaging laws and enforcing strict controls on who is allowed to purchase cigarettes. Now, a group of cancer specialists are pushing for the legal purchasing age to be raised to 21. This is in part to reduce the risk that cigarettes pose to younger Australians.

Dr Christopher Steer is the President of the Private Cancer Physicians of Australia, and this morning he spoke to Victor Petrovic, who is a Producer for The Daily.
