Representing the Nauru Files – “All We Can’t See”
In 2016 the Guardian newspaper obtained over 2,000 leaked documents that shocked the nation about the extent of the mistreatment of asylums detained on the remote Pacific Island of Nauru. While the revelations of human rights abuses hit the headlines and provoked much discussion, its impact subsided due to the asylum seekers being isolated from the very public in whose name the current punitive policies are currently enacted. To attempt to re-tell these stories in all their human qualities, curator Arielle Gamble approached a range of Australia’s finest visual artists to produce the exhibition “All We Can’t See.”
Arielle Gamble talked to Mick Radojkovic about this exhibition which is on at the Yellow House Gallery in Potts Point until February 10.
