A history of sex work in Sydney

New South Wales is the only state in Australia to fully decriminalize sex work in 1995. The rest of the country has yet to follow suit.

Julie Bates is a key founder of the Australian sex work rights movement in Australia. She’s been working in the sex industry since the turbulent 80s. She joins us in studio to chat about the history of sex work in Sydney and the fight for decriminalization; and how sex worker voices are being shut out of the MeToo movement.
