Gow, the frontman for Melbourne outfit Oh Mercy, feels no pressure to continue trying to win critical claim with his music. In an Australian music industry that he feels is filled with earnest artists creating overly serious songs, Gow tells us how he intends to continue creating music inspired by Australia’s literary tradition and irreverent spirit.
That’s the ethos he’s put into album number five, Cafe Oblivion, which Alex was happy to demonstrate with a live performance of “National Park”.
