Collectors’ Space Finissage Talk
Join us for the final day of the Collectors’ Space exhibition and partake in the conversation between Art Month Artistic Director Kate Britton and Collectors’ Abdul Abdullah, Tony Albert, Tess Allas, Daniel Mudie Cunningham, and Emma Price. It’s the only sneak peak into a private art collection you’ll probably ever get and it’s quite magical. MAY SPACE, Waterloo, 3-5pm, free.

We cruise into Day with the warm, smooth sounds Nathan Munro is becoming known for, before Scott Grant limbers and lubricates the floor for French sensation Janeret. If that hasn’t left you loosened up and wanting more, BROHN takes the floor until we feel like heading Home.Night time we can’t relax just yet, as there is more important work to be done at Home before we remember we all have jobs to go to. The Terrace is split between two experienced floor fillers – WetYourSelf lords Peter Pixzel andJacob Husley. An obsessive Paula Abdul fan, June, auditions for American Idol in an attempt to impress her hero. A young girl named Sam enters a relationship with her mechanic, Anthony, and cultivates a dangerous obsession with brutally confronting his wife, Carol. Carol, meanwhile, has reoccurring dreams in which a ghostly Jon Benét Ramsey visits her, prophesying about the future. Equally disturbing and humorous, Home Invasion explores celebrity infatuation and our culture’s obsession with the relentless mediatisation of violent acts, weaving together three incidents from real life. Blak-Queer Futurism reestablishes Queer Indigenous speculative futures from here and abroad, drawing upon resilience, knowledge and spirituality. Through multi-disciplinary works, the artists involved relay narratives attained through story, family, experience, country, and dreaming, to actualise the future today, subverting the imperativity of popular futurist speculation. The exhibition delves into the collective knowledge of each of the artists and their respective origins as a means of self-determination and representation, creatively examining the ways in which Queer Indigenous people will influence generations to come. SOUND LINES is a group exhibition that marries SOUND with LINES. Art and music has been interwoven for generations, most famously – the downtown scene of New York in the 1980’s. The scene successfully blurred the lines between art, nightlife, music and performance. One of the resonant outcomes from this was unusual and unexpected artistic collaborations. It’s Vertigo’s first launch and publication and they want to celebrate this milestone with YOU! We hope you’ll all join us as we celebrate taking our first steps into these murky waters of student publishing. Join us upstairs at Goodspace (above The Lord Gladstone) from 7pm as we wade through a night of drinks, dancing, and a stunning visual showcase of student work. A gold coin donation gets you in to see Cable Ties, Silent Jay & Jace XL, Rackett, Roza Terenzi, 30/70, Sunscreen, Fishing and many more, across all levels of The Marly as part of FBi Radio’s takeover of the venue. Miss Peaches will become an elevated den of noise, with locals Gauci, Sunscreen, and Rackett welcoming the riffs of Melbourne’s Cable Ties from 9pm. The ground floor will be a haven of soul all night long, with The Goods, 30/70, Silent Jay & Jace XL and Wallace rounded out by DJs FlexMami and Mowgli May. Downstairs, Tokyo Sing Song will be an immersive electronic space, with Sophie P-Y creating a visual atmosphere to match the sounds of Fishing, plus Melbourne-via-Perth producer Roza Terenzi, and b2b sets from Andy Garvey & Adi Toohey, as well as Natalia & Nat James. 21st Biennale of Sydney | SUPERPOSITION: Equilibrium & Engagment
From 16 March – 11 June, SUPERPOSITION: Equilibrium & Engagement, curated by Artistic Director Mami Kataoka, presents the work of 70 artists and artist collectives from 35 countries at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Artspace, Carriageworks, Cockatoo Island, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney Opera House and 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art. The Biennale of Sydney is located on the traditional lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land and pay respect to Elders, both past and present.
