Bad Beauty Botches: The Raids Into Australia’s Back Alley Beauty Houses
A series of raids conducted by The New South Wales Health Department have revealed the dodgy operation conducted in back-alley beauty clinics, revealing thousands of illegal cosmetic drugs. Patients have been left with severe burns, blindness and decaying noses. Some of the items seized are non approved dermal fillers and medical-strength face peels, originating from China and Japan. The question lies what can be done about regulating the accessibility to these products and the harm that they are causing? The Daily was joined on the line by Jon Wardle, Senior Lecturer in Public Health at University of Technology Sydney to these questions.
