More Civil Societies: Banking royal commission

As more evidence of banks lying and cheating customers under the watchful eye of executives comes forward at the Royal Commission into banking, it’s no wonder why the finance sector fought so hard to prevent one from happening at all.

Public trust in the big banks has understandably taken a hit, while the Royal Commission remains one of the most-trusted processes in the country for its transparency.

Julie Macken suggests that, just like the Royal Commissions into child sexual abuse and youth detention systems, banks can begin to restore public trust by following through with the recommendations offered in the report following the Commission.
