Carlos Alvarado Sworn President of Costa Rica
After a controversial election against conservator candidate Fabricio Alvarez, Carlos Alvarado won the presidency on February the 4th 2018. On May 8th, 2018 Carlos Alvarado was finally sworn in, president, promising a more inclusive government and the possibility of approving same-sex marriage. During the inauguration ceremony, Alvarado made a speech where he promises to improve employment, education, and health and battle poverty. He also mentions the country financial state and how he wishes to correct the administration of public resources and tax collection and make sure legislators pass fiscal reforms. The Daily was joined by Dr. Luis Angosto-Ferrández Senior Lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies and the Department of Anthropology from The University of Sydney.
