Public acceptance of Science

 

It takes more than just robust science to convince people to take on a certain point of view – especially if you consider controversial topics like vaccination, genetically modified foods and climate change.

A recent study examined how a balance of evidence can shape the likelihood that people are convinced. It’s a psychological phenomenon known as “the diversity effect”.

Brett Hayes, a Professor of Psychology from the University of New South Wales joins us on the show to discuss.
