Italy Finally has a new Government and new Prime Minister
Last week 2SER brought you a story about Italy going three months without a government leading the country into financial chaos and political unrest. This week Italy has now chosen a government and a new Prime Minister. A new Populist Government has been voted into Parliament which was made possible by an alliance between the anti-establishment Five Star Movement and the far-right League which gained 350 votes in favour. After senate approval, Giuseppe Conte, a lawyer with little political experience, is Prime Minister of Italy now. With a new government and new Prime Minister, Italy can now finally solve its 2.3 trillion Euro’s of debt. 2SER was joined by Associate Professor, Bruno Mascitelli from Swinburne University to discuss more about Italy.
