Why do private schools in Australia receive public money? Tess was joined by public education advocate Jane Caro to discuss one of the most contentious education debates in the country.

Australia is one of the very few countries in the OECD that publicly funds its private schools. Around 40% of Australian secondary school students attend an “independent” or religious private school, making our system one of the most privatised in the world.

So how did this funding arrangement develop? And what should be done to build a fairer education system for all?
