Homelessness- it’s not just ‘rough sleepers’

Out of sight, out of mind: Often when we think of homelessness, the image that pops up in our minds is one of people sleeping on the streets, wrapped in sleeping bags. But people sleeping rough actually make up the smallest proportion of NSW and Australia’s homeless population, with thousands sleeping in cars, couch surfing, or staying in severely overcrowded dwellings. Tess had Digby Hughes, Senior Policy and Research Officer at Homelessness NSW on the show to talk about the issues faced by NSW’s growing homeless population.

If you’re in NSW and you or someone you know is homeless and you’re worried about them, Link2Home are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1800 152 152.
