Exploring the Deep-Sea

It is often said that we know more about the moon than we do about our own oceans. For a world that is 71% covered in water that may come as something surprising to hear but what lies deep below the surface still remains somewhat of a mystery. Deep-sea exploration is a fairly new form of research that has become more achievable in recent years due to the advancement of technology, however the ocean floor remains a largely unexplored part of the planet due to the incredible pressure and darkness that occurs as we go deeper into its depths. Tim O’Hara, Project Leader and Researcher at Museums Victoria, was involved in a deep-sea exploration voyage last year and joined Drive on the line to tell us more about researching the ocean floor and what he found.
