How comfortable do supporters feel in the birth room?
Davis Harte has been studying the role of the supporters in the birth space, and has recently completed a video ethnographic study looking at one family’s labour over 15 hours. She found that the labour ward in question did little to help the woman’s supporters feel safe.
Davis is a PhD student in the Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney. She speaks to Ellen Leabeater.
