Messages sent to midwives by the room
Think: Health Extra Treatment
For the midwives who work in hospitals and labour wards, the space they help women give birth in can have a marked effect on their practice.
Midwives talk of the ‘messages’ sent by the room to them, in a new study by Athena Hammond. These messages can tell the midwife what to expect from a space, and influence their decision making ability.
Athena is a PhD student in the Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney. She speaks to Ellen Leabeater.
