Margaret Grafton: Weaver (with Wendy Paramor) is an exhibition that explores her work spanning five decades (1960-2004). Her tapestry works are typically made from metal, copper, wool and plastics. She’s renowned for rejecting the idea of machismo style painting (the concept associated with a strong sense of masculine pride) in favour of weaving tapestries. She’s renowned for having work hoisted in the NSW Parliament House, the Federal Court, hospitals, councils and hotels.

Sophie speaks with co-curator of the exhibition, Ruark Lewis, about Grafton’s techniques, philosophy and the role of avant-garde women in art.
