B-Line buses equipped with “third-eye” safety cameras
Commuters using B-Line buses to get between the Northern Beaches and the city can feel safe on their journey, with new cameras being installed in the double-decker buses to warn drivers of pedestrians. The cameras could reduce road accidents by 30 percent, as they can differentiate between pedestrians, cyclists and cars. And, if it’s successful, the cameras could be rolled out across the wider bus network.
Tess was joined by Steffen Faurby, Chief Executive Officer of the State Transit Authority of NSW, to break down how the cameras work, why the B-Line was chosen for the initiative and what drivers think of the technology.
