In a huge announcement this morning, scientists have observed neurological repair in some of their paraplegic patients, enabling them to recover some leg movement, putting them on the path towards walking again. This breakthrough is the result of advances in spinal cord implant technology, whereby a wireless implant which uses precisely timed impulses, stimulates the area of the brain needed for walking. 

To discuss this huge leap forward and what it means for the treatment of spinal cord injuries, The Daily’s Sam Baran was joined by Professor Bryce Vissel, the director of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at UTS.
