The collaboration between folkie Meg Baird, and indie rock’s go-to, and acclaimed harpist, Mary Lattimore has been long anticipated. Delivering in the form of ‘Ghost Forests’, Baird’s heavenly vocals ride atop Lattimore’s shimmering harp pickings, cultivating a world of their own. There’s an incredible magnetic pull that feels weightier the deeper you listen. Spectral and cinematic stuff.
After cutting ties with bands Lunatics on Pogosticks and Amyl and the Sniffers, Melbourne’s Calum Newtown shares his Candy moniker and debut album ‘Under the Weather’. Here, Newtown takes reverb, shoegaze into a more whimsical territory, while still retaining a whole lot of bite and introspection. There are strong guitar lines across the whole record, that wouldn’t put it out of place in the Captured Tracks roster next to bands like Beach Fossils and DIIV.
Plus new singles from Jessica Pratt, Steve Gunn, Laneous, Deerhunter and Charlie Collins.
