The Thread links one song to the next, then that one to the next one, etc etc.
This weeks’ thread starts with all things straight, kicking off with Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and heading to Josh T Pearson (whose album, The Straight Hits! contains only songs with ‘Straight’ in the title).
From Josh T Pearson, we shift into his band, Lift to Experience, into Angels, then to Angel Olsen. From Angel Olsen, it is all Right Now and Tell Me – including Elvis Costello and the Attractions, All Our Exes Live in Texas, Dori Freeman, Michael Kiwanuka, Even, Neil Young, Middle Kids and Bikini Kill.
From Bikini Kill, it is into fellow Riot Grrrrrl heroes, Sleater-Kinney, then on to The Breeders (for no other real reason than those three bands have strong females out front).
From The Breeders’ ‘Divine Hammer’, we go to ‘Divine’ by Laura Marling, then into another Laura (Laura Jean) into a bunch of Take songs, finishing that part with Phantastic Ferniture, then into Julia Jacklin (band member of Phantastic Ferniture).
Julia’s song ‘Same Airport, Different Man’ leads us to ‘Same for Me’ by Cable Ties, a few other ‘Same’ songs, into Corners (including Still Corners), into messages, into checking, into Straitjacket (Los Straitjackets and then Straitjacket Fits), into Down (Down in Splendour, Follow Me Down, Close It Down, etc), until we end with east Nashville resident, Aaron Lee Tasjan.
