Light rail development affecting defenceless species

Our cities today face the dilemma of catering for growing populations while at the same time ensuring that growth takes sustainability on board.

The light rail development in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs has faced a large amount of criticism due to the culling of more than 1000 mature aged trees and a lack of consultation with the public.

Local residents protest that the development has drastically lowered the environmental standards of the area and has also left a large number of smaller animal species without a place to call home.
