This week’s show starts with Everything You’ve Ever Learned, quite literally. From Jack White, we have Everything Has Changed, Everything is Waiting For You and Everything I’ve Got Belongs To You by Ed Kuepper. From Ed Kuepper’s Belong, we go to Both Belong from The Gray’s album, Ro Sham Bo, which features Jason Falkner on lead vocal and songwriting credit. So we go to a Jason Falkner solo track from there. He has performed as a member of Cheap Trick for some live shows, and Cheap Trick covered Elvis Presley’s song Don’t Be Cruel.
January 8 is the birthday for Elvis Presley, Jenny Lewis, Paul Hester (of Crowded House) and David Bowie.
From Bowie’s masterpiece, Suffragette City, we go through a number of other city songs by artists including Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Kevin Morby, Alejandro Escovedo (touring here in March for the first time ever) and The Tall Grass. The Tall Grass is a project from Jamie Hutchings and Peter Fenton (Peter Fenton is a member of Crow).
Crow and Sidewinder were once on Half A Cow Records.
Nick Craft was once a member of Sidewinder and has recently released the excellent album, Minerva and the song Leaves is from that very album. A number of songs about leaves follows (including Ashley Naylor, Beth Orton and Teenage Fanclub).
Teenage Fanclub hail from Glasgow, as do Franz Ferdinand. From FF’s The Fallen, we go to Joe Pug’s song Windfallen.
