Anti-Muslim Bill Introduced in India

India’s lower house has recently passed a bill that will grant residency and citizenship status to anyone who is not a Muslim. This controversial bill has sparked protest and outrage by the Indian public. The bill specifically outlines which religious groups are included and which are excluded. The bill is seen as an attempt by Prime Minister Modi to secure Hindu votes in preparation for the upcoming elections however this seems to be backfiring heavily on him and his party. 2SER was joined by Peter Mayer from Adelaide University discuss more about this bill.
