Today’s thread starts with songs with Words in the titles – songs from Leah Flanagan, Halfway, Steve Mason (of Beta Band fame) and Sleater-Kinney.
The to St Vincent (currently producing a new Sleater-Kinney album!) with Happy Birthday, Johnny and on to a bunch of Happy songs – from Jonathan Something, Hiss Golden Messenger, John Fullbright and Broken Social Scene.
Moving to all things Broken – Broken Social Scene to St Paul & The Broken Bones, then Nadine Khouri’s Broken Star, The Nature Strip’s Broken Leg, Joey’s Coop’s Broken Bike, Amaya Laurcirica’s Broken Glass and new Juliana Hatfield (Broken Doll).
From Juliana Hatfield’s Broken Doll, we move to a Doll theme – Husker Du’s Hate Paper Doll, New York Dolls, Russian Doll from Grant-Lee Phillips, The Chills’ Satin Doll, Elvis Costello & The Attractions’ Shabby Doll, Cat Power’s Baby Doll to Falling Joys’ Baby Doll Messiah.
From there, it is on to the Dresden Dolls, with Amanda Palmer on vocal. She also features on the John Grant track You & Him. Then on to another John (Lennon) and the wonderful Mind Games. From there – on to Games from Algiers.
