It’s the UNESCO International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements!
UNESCO has declared 2019 to be the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements. The Periodic Table was established by Dimitri Mendeleev in 1869 and this year will mark 150 years of referring to the natural world around us using a system of numbers and letters. Tom Gordon, Senior Science communicator at the University of Sydney joined us to give us a rundown on why the Periodic Table matters to science.
