What Happens if You Get Injured on Smoko?

Did you hear the story of a Queensland McDonald’s worker who broke her leg taking a smoke break before her shift? The court ruled that she was taking an ‘enforced work break’, and therefore is now entitled to workers compensation, even though she hadn’t actually started working yet when the injury occurred.

So what does the law say about work injuries and when they occur? What should you do if you injure yourself at work, or before work? And what could this case mean for future workers compensation cases?
