Children with language difficulties face higher healthcare costs

Nearly 1 in 10 children at kindergarten age will struggle with specific language impairment – a language disorder which means children may struggle to talk, or put a sentence together.

The disorder can present massive problems for children when they’re just beginning their education, but can also result in higher healthcare costs for the child and their family.

Paula Cronin is a Research Fellow from the University of Technology, and wrote her PHD on the healthcare costs for children with specific language impairment.
