Should There Be More Cameras in Our Courts?

On Wednesday, Cardinal George Pell’s seventy-five-minute sentence hearing was broadcast live around Australia and the world, as viewers were given the unique opportunity to watch Chief Judge Peter Kidd not only hand down his sentence, but also explain how he reached such a decision. After such a watershed moment, some lawyers are now calling for future high-profile cases to also be broadcast live. The Daily was joined by Geoff Holland, lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology Sydney to discuss.
