Indonesia Proposing to Move Capital
This week, Indonesian President Joko Widodo proposed the idea of moving Indonesia’s capital. This plan comes as the residents of Jakarta and the main island of Java continue to deal with persistent overcrowding issues that are estimated to cost the country $7.04 billion annually in lost economic revenue. This announcement however, has been met with scepticism, as citizens and experts alike raise questions over the viability of possible sites for the new capital.
